Yes, the Body is alive. With feelings and opinions of its own apart from the conscious ones rambling on actively inside your head. Our body, as derived from the Earth belongs to nature. Subsequently, it is our greatest teacher, and with us wherever we go. In my own experience, I find trauma lives more in the body than in my mind. We can with utmost effort train our brains to "overcome" fear, or stress, or whatever ailment that haunts us but time again, it manifests someway in our bodies. Now depending on how sensitive the being is and how in tuned they are, the body itself can teach the querent where trauma is likely stored. In Eastern Medicine, they believe that every organ in the body represents an element, emotion and purpose beyond merely functioning properly. Any ailment, however acute or progressive is a direct sign of something essential being neglected or abused within the person. For instance, repressed trauma is first stored inside cells as a kind of protective mechanism and later can be triggered by persisting memories or present circumstances similiar to what was experienced in the past. Therefore, certain ailments persist for years - even an entire lifetime - without proper treatment or understanding of the initial cause and how to move beyond it. First off, the healing of disease and illness in the body is subject to the same universal law that applies to every other facet of this human experience. To grasp a deeper knowledge of the make up of your body is to observe the laws of nature. The difference is there is a trust that the rest of nature possess that humans lack. We allow our minds to run our lives, which I think hijacks the delicate disposition of our intuition that is found in our gut. Within each season, each leaf, each organism - be it insect or mammal - there lies the same answer that heals all ailment. A leaf for instance is a part of the cycle, it does not resist its blooming, nor the color changing, nor the falling. Now, that is a pretty bold statement. "Heals all ailments." Not to say that every cancer goes treated, or even that we are the keymakers to the door of ours destinies. Maybe something higher fates the world in motion, all things played out to perfection that our limited minds cannot grasp. However, despite our ignorance and narrow view of our own potential, we at least have access to this key. The key that unlocks the door to the answers we seek but keep locked and on the other side of. We clutch our keys tightly, but never use them. We react to disease instead of act to them. What I mean is that when an ailment presents itself, it is your ignored body reaching out to communicate with you. At what severity? What degree? You should probably ask yourself. The answers will not be found in the mazes of your mind. Mind can only speculate such things, as it was designed to do. The answers live in the very organs that hold dominion over our lives. These sacred organs that the ancient Egyptians honored enough to preserve along with the body in tombs as prologue to the afterlife; inside these organs breathes a life. In each cell there lives a God that knows everything there is to know about that one particular cell. How to preserve and how to destroy. Death makes way for new life, and such is the cycle of turbulence we call our human evolution. In order for the body to heal, it must undergo a series of transformation. That is why it is imperative that we listen. That we listen more than we speak, otherwise we are missing it. Missing all the answers in front of us while we shut our eyes tightly and keep screaming the same question repeatedly. How many of you know now that there is only so much clinics and doctors can do for you with their prescriptions? No one will know your body more intimately than you. No one will know how to heal you other the god within you. Be your own medicine. Listen to what your body is telling you. There are layers to peel past, of projection, fantasies, paranoia and fear. Yes, I will admit this; no one said it would be easy. But it is possible, really, it is the only road to recovery. The next time your body begins to react in a way that opposes you, stop and slow down a minute to ask the question Why. The body is designed with an equipped immune system whose existence is created for the sole purpose of self-preservation. It knows better than your mind how to regulate and restore the body back to equilibrium. If something is disrupting this, it exists only within yourself. Illness is only your body's way of wanting to be heard. Once we muster up enough courage to sincerely take a look at what is causing these ailments, it no longer has any reason to manifest as a 'sickness'. The alchemy is in the acknowledgment. The saying, "we are our own worst enemies" stands true. We get in the way of ourselves, of our relationships and even in the quality of our lives. So don't ignore disease, don't try to destroy it, don't even try to fight it. There is no battle to be won when it is one against yourself. Just listen. That in itself is the spark that gives way to the flames of transformation. |
